Workshop on new e-Mail Interface and Cyber Security in MP
A 02 days Workshop has been organized in the Minto Hall, Bhopal on 30th and 31st May 2019 in Collaboration with MAP-IT (Madhya Pradesh Agency for the Promotion of IT) and NIC to enrich nodal officers of approximate 60 Head of departments of GoMP on various features of New NIC e-Mail interface followed by sessions on Network and Cyber Security.
Madhya Pradesh was the first state to release e-Mail Policy to provide legal status and validity to all communication and exchange using e-mail facility. In this connection, MoU was signed between MAP-IT, GoMP and NIC for roll out of NIC email services at grass root level through designed nodal officers.
During the First day of workshop necessity of using Government Mailing Services, Security features of NIC Mail messaging Services and its comparison with third party mailing services, Hindi email domain, Single Sign-on feature, Calendar, Briefcase, Kavach etc., beside many more features have been elaborated and demonstrated by Dr. Seema Khanna, STD, NICHQ.
On Second day, sessions on NIC-CERT, Security Threats, Incident reporting, Phishing and Spear Phishing techniques, Advanced Persistent Threat, Identify Theft, Security Measures on End Point and Mobile devices with case studies, Security Hardening, SSL, DMARC/SPF, SSL, Encryption, Malware, DNS Security, Gateway Security etc., with live demonstration of Phishing, Botnet, Honey-Pots and Open DNS etc., have been delivered by Sh. R.S. Mani, DDG, NIC HQ, to various Network/Security Administrators of 60 GoMP departments. NIC/NKN Network and Email Administrators of 16 neighboring States have also participated in the Workshop to get enriched on emerging mail features and cyber security.
Sh. Nagesh Shastri, DDG and NIC MP Coordinator has delivered inaugural session on NIC Mail Messaging Services and its Core Architecture besides necessity of using Government Mail messaging services. Sh. Prakash Rao SIO/STD and Sh. Mayank Nagar, STD/Head Network/VC Services along with their team members (NIC/NKN) and team of MAP-IT, GoMP have significantly contributed towards all Administrative, Management and Technical support to make the Workshop as a Success Story.
